Gary Lee Ely

Gary died in Atrium Navicent Hospital in Macon, Georgia on September 27, 2025 Born in Kokomo Indiana December 15,1944, and in 1946 his parents, Reuben & Ruth Amos Ely moved their family to Lakeland Florida. Graduated from Kathleen High School in 1963. In the late 50's Gary was one of the fastest runners for track in Polk County & loved playing football for the Kathleen Red Devils. Survived by his wife of 48 years Sharon Brooks Ely. Survived by five children, Mimi J. Carey (Mike), Gary Allen Ely (Valerie), Rob T. Smith (Ashley), Shelly Ely Pearce (Eldon), Amy Richardson (Adonis). Survived by 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, & 5 great great grandchildren. Survived by sisters Becky Cramer, Rock Island Illinois, Janet Ely, Lakeland Florida, & brother John Ely, Florida. Visitation from 5-7pm at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home on Bartow Road on Thursday October 2, 2025. Graveside services at Oak Hill Cemetery on Bartow Road on Friday October 3, 2025 at 10am.
