Laurie Anne Swallows

Laurie Ann Swallows, age 61, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on October 16, 1963, in Lakeland, Florida, Laurie was the beloved daughter of Linda Rais and the late Rodney Vanderpool. She spent her childhood in Lakeland alongside her siblings, Marlee Whitcomb, Michael Vanderpool, and Keith Vanderpool. Laurie graduated from Kathleen High School, Class of 1980, and went on to lead a life filled with love, service, and dedication.

On December 21, 2001, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Lee Swallows Sr., in Bartow, Florida. Together they built a beautiful life and family, raising, Michelle Dicks and being a Step-Mom to, Kenneth L. Swallows Jr., Heather Barnett, Keather Bruce and Kyle Swallows. Laurie was a proud and devoted grandmother to Logan, McKenzie, Jace, Kenneth, Keirra (Kae), Kyndal, Blake, Ali, Collin, Braden, and Ava.

Laurie was recognized for her hard work and excellence throughout her career, receiving the Lowe's Service Silver Star Awards at the Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels. She also earned accolades from Winn-Dixie through the Future Business Leaders of America.

Known for her unwavering devotion, caring nature, and beautiful spirit, Laurie touched many lives. Her best friend, Phyllis Boykin, and many others will carry her memory with love and gratitude.

She is preceded in death by her father Rodney Vanderpool, stepfather Edward Rais, and her beloved dog, Penny.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 2125 S Bartow Rd, Lakeland, FL 33801.

Laurie will be remembered as a beautiful, caring, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
