Gary Lee "Sundance" Eslinger, 72, lifelong Texhoma resident, passed away Sunday morning, May 4, 2025 at the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center in Amarillo, Texas.
The son of Howard Curtis and Nina Mae (Combs) Eslinger, he was born November 22, 1952 in Guymon, Oklahoma. Sundance attended school at Palo Duro in Amarillo, Texas. He served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He was united in marriage to Paula Del Stump on January 15, 1983 in Texhoma; she preceded him in death on February 18, 2013. His second passion was Harley-Davidson, riding and owning several over the years.
Sundance was a certified mechanic and welder for Cimmaron Tank and First Services.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Paula, son Gary Eslinger Jr., and brother, John J.C.. Eslinger.
Survivors include three children: Freedom Eslinger of Texhoma, Barbara Jean and husband, Kenneth Weems of Lone Oak, Texas, and Jeri Rai Butler of Quinlan, Texas, sister, Ellen Eslinger Murrell of Nemo, Texas, brother, Arthur Eslinger and wife, Kandi of Alvarado, Texas. Survivors also include eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Visitation with family will be Tuesday evening, May 6th between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home in Guymon.
Funeral services will be conducted, Wednesday afternoon, May 7th at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Texhoma with Pastor Earl Buchan officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Texhoma Cemetery.
Memorials in memory of Sundance maybe given to your charity of choice. Memorials will be accepted at Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
