Gary Lee Gibbons of Eugene, Oregon passed away unexpectedly on May 14, 2024, at the age of 80. Gary was born on August 16, 1943, in White City, Oregon to parents Clarence "Gib" and Lucille Gibbons.
He was a lifelong resident of Oregon, graduating from Willamette High School in 1961. After high school, Gary went to work for Willamette Glass as a glazier. He moved into sales and spent his career in the window, door, and millwork industry working for Emerald Door and Glass and ending his career with Mid-Valley Glass. He was a member of the EEA. Gary was known for being a hard worker and dedicated to his clients.
Gary had a love for keeping busy. You could find him maintaining his yard, washing his car, or organizing his garage. Throughout his lifetime, he participated in many activities and hobbies. He enjoyed camping, bowling, the Oregon coast, riding motorcycles, the family property in LaPine and was an Oregon State Beaver fan.
He had a passion for cars and owned many that would be considered collectors' cars today. In the early sixties, he was the proud owner of a 1961 Corvette convertible until the birth of his oldest daughter required him to get a family car. He longed to own another, and he made that dream come true getting a new Corvette in 2000. Gary sourced all original parts and rebuilt a 1957 Chevy Nomad from the frame up. He was still passionate about cars and enjoyed watching car shows in his downtime.
Gary's daughters will always remember how fun he was and his silliness. He was always a favorite of their friends and the neighborhood kids. Gary is remembered by his girl's friends as a good man who cared about them like his own.
Gary is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy, daughters Kristin (Scott) Carpenter, Sharron (Stuart) Loe, grandchildren Chelsey Loe, Alex Loe, Michael Carpenter, Gavin Carpenter, and sister Susan Gibbons. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per Gary's wishes, no services will be held. Donations in his memory may be made to the United Service Organizations (USO).
