Gary Good, 76, of Upton passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Katherine L. (Davis) Good for the past 46 years.
Born in Boston on April 8, 1948, he was the son of the late Norman J. and Mildred (Bowles) Good.
Gary was a resident of Upton for the past 7 years and formerly resided in Brookline and Quincy. He grew up in the Mission Hill section of Boston and graduated from Boston English High School.
Gary proudly served for two years in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.
Before his retirement, he worked as a custodian at Foxboro High School for over 20 years and had previously worked at Sear and Roebuck for 25 years.
Gary was a member of the USS Constitution Museum and the Boston Street Railway Association. He was a huge collector of toy trains and also loved ships and airplanes of all kinds. He greatly enjoyed seeing the tall ships when they were in town, and attending the annual schooner races in Gloucester. He also loved spending time on Castle Island in South Boston.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving daughter, Jennifer B. Costello, her husband Richard of Upton, his stepson Christopher McNeil of Quincy, and was the proud Papa of Shannon Elizabeth Costello.
Gary is also survived by four siblings, Gail Kessler of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, Robert Good and his wife Rita of West Bridgewater, Lynne Cooper of Marshfield, Paul Good and his wife Anne Louise of Medway, and his previously deceased sister Denise Montanez, as well as by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday morning, January 10th from 9 - 11 a.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber Street in Medway followed by a funeral service at 11a.m. in the funeral home.
Burial will take place on Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Due to flower restrictions at the national cemetery, Gary's family has asked to kindly omit flowers and requests that donations be made in his memory to Schooner Adventure, PO Box 1306, Gloucester, MA 01931

I am so sorry for the loss of Gary. The photo on the obituary is the spitting image of the Gary I knew in the Army in Baumholder Germany in the early 1970´s.
We were best of friends then and we even bought an old German car together. We were medics. And we spent a lot of time together doing some time traveling around. I remember him telling me about his biggest goal when he went back home was to move his mother and brothers out of the slums of Boston.
I live in Colorado now.

Dear Gary- you will be missed by many, many of us. You were a wonderful person to know and with whom to work. I always admired your pleasant manner, your sense of humor, your thoughtfulness and your responsible work ethic. When you and I worked in the evening you always were thoughtful of me and took good care of me. Some people Gary leave a permanent positive stamp on the hearts of many and thank you for that positive stamp on my heart Gary. Rest my friend...you deserve it!
