Gary G. Heska

Gary was called to the Lord on June 25, 2023 at Horizon Senior Living in Standish, Michigan with his family by his side at the age of 87. He was born in Bay City, Michigan on December 17, 1935 to the late George and Edna (England) Heska. Gary was a proud server of the Lord and lived by the Ten Commandments. Gary's occupation was as a carpenter/welder with the Michigan Carpenters Union for over 50 years. He was raised to Master Mason on April, 1977. Gary enjoyed, fishing, feeding the birds, gardening, working on his classic cars and spending time with his grandchildren. Gary was known for his quiet demeaner but also being very kind and always willing to lend a helping hand.
Gary is survived by his four children, Sherry (Ken) Marker, Glenda (Dennis) Garrow, Rick (Lenore) Heska and Daryl (Donna) Heska; seven grandchildren, Matthew Vallad, Jessie (Britt) Vallad, Philip (Vickie) Garrow, Andrew Heska, Douglas (Shenna) Garrow, Nicole (Cline) Kozlowski and Alyson (Caleb) Wazny; eleven great-grandchildren, Isaac and Liam Vallad, Ethan Heska, Carter, Jace and Lucas Kozlowski, Jay and Kelsey Garrow, Frannie Wazny and Baby Wazny on the way; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Barbara "Bobbi" Heska; grandson, Steven Bradley Heska; great-granddaughter, Alma Grace Wazny; sisters, Barbara Sellers and Molly Janasik.
A Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor Dan Chapman with interment following at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
