Gary Meyer, a true and generous spirit, passed away on September 15, 2024. His unwavering love for his family and his role as a second father to many defined his life. Gary's legacy is one of hard work, unconditional love, and resilience-traits he shared with everyone around him. Despite life's many challenges, his faith in the Lord and commitment to helping others remained steadfast.
A passionate outdoorsman, Gary loved hunting and fishing, and he eagerly passed this passion on to those around him, teaching them how to filet a fish, clean a deer and keep a garden. He took pride in his ability to live off the land. Though he spoke little, his words were always filled with wisdom and insight. Gary was a simple man with simple needs, finding great joy in watching his grandkids grow and spending time with his mother in his later years.
He is preceded in death by his father, Harvey Meyer; his brother, Herman Meyer; and his children's mother Nancy Merritt Hillis. Gary's legacy of love continues through his mother, Ernell Meyer of Three Rivers; his brother, Michael (Roseanne) Meyer of Corpus Christi; his sister, Cindy (Donny) Sullivan of Kerrville; his daughter, Dixie (Les) Sloan; his son, Dustin (Kasie) Meyer; his granddaughters, Keirsten Albert, Karah Albert, and Kimber Meyer; his grandson, Dixon Meyer; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of Gary's life will be held on Friday, September 20th, at 10:00 AM at Roberson Funeral Home in Three Rivers.
