Gary L. Octavio, 86, of Massillon Ohio, died at home surrounded by his family on October 9, 2025.He was born in Navarre on December 16, 1938 to William (Mid) and Mable Octavio, founders of Mid’s Spaghetti Sauce. Gary attended Navarre Ram’s high school and graduated in 1956. Gary began playing drums in high school and later, as a talented pro drummer, toured with Chubby Checker! He was an avid golfer, enjoyed entertaining and loved his canine companion Mario.Gary is preceded in death by his wife Judy Walker Octavio, step-son Randy Holman, son Eric Octavio, and grandson Alexander Capobianco. He is also preceded in death by his parents Mid and Mable Octavio, brother Robert Octavio, sister Dorothy Carruthers and nephew Mark Carruthers. He is survived by his daughter Julie Octavio, son Mideo Octavio, grandchildren Ashley, Stephanie, Amanda (Brian) and Tyler, and his great-grandchildren Dominic (Gabrielle), Deven, Amelia and Victoria. Nieces Pam (Randy) Lint & Valerie(Bryan) Mcmillen.
The family wants to extend a special thank you to his granddaughter Ashley, great-grandson Dominic, Susan Octavio-Daley, Cheryl Page and all of the caregivers for their support, love and compassion.
The funeral service and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to The Stark County Humane Society.
