In Loving Memory of Gary Kenneth Olson
February 6, 1945 – November 7, 2024
Gary Kenneth Olson, a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on February 6, 1945, in Dearborn, Michigan, to the late Gerald and Muriel (Magee) Olson, Gary lived a life marked by love, hard work, and devotion to family.
Gary was the beloved husband of the late Ann Olson, his high school sweetheart, who preceded him in death after 52 wonderful years of marriage in 2016. Together, they built a legacy of love and partnership, including their family and successful business, Gary's Catering, which they operated for over 50 years.
He was the cherished father of Sheri (David) Darin and the late Michael and Danny Olson. Gary was a loving brother to Dennis (Shawn) Olson, Doug (Leah) Olson and Bob (Kelly) Olson, and is reunited in eternal peace with his late siblings Richard Olson, Tommy Olson, Diane Riehl, Ray Olson, Reggie Olson and Bill Olson. Gary is survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. Survivors also include his brother-in-law Bob Riehl and will be deeply missed by his furry companions, Ziggy and Callie.
A proud graduate of Edsel Ford High School in 1963, the same year Ann graduated, Gary's life was deeply enriched by his love of family. Gary was an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling in his leisure time and really enjoyed his trips to the casino. Gary was also a season ticket holder for the Detroit Lions for 45 years.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Gary's life on Monday, November 11, 2024, at the O'Brien/Sullivan Funeral Home, 41555 Grand River Ave, Novi, MI 48375. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by a service at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Michigan Humane Society in honor of Gary's love for animals.
Gary's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
