Gary Orrell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fort Cobb Funeral Home - Fort Cobb on Feb. 1, 2023.
Gary Orrell, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, went to be with the Lord at the age of 78. Throughout his life, Gary was known for his hard-working nature, intelligence, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends.
Born in 1944, Gary began his career as a corporate executive and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a well-respected and successful business leader. Despite his demanding job, Gary never lost his love for the land and his passion for cattle ranching. In his free time, he tended to his herd, honing his skills and building a successful part-time cattle operation.
Gary decided to follow his heart and pursue cattle ranching full-time. He retired from his corporate position and devoted himself completely to his ranching business, where he became known as one of the best cattle ranchers in the area.
Aside from his professional life, Gary was a deeply religious man and a dedicated member of the Cowboy Church in Apache, OK. He was known for his musical talent and was a talented drummer, often performing at church events and bringing joy to those around him.
Gary and his wife, Glenda, also shared a love of country and western dancing. They enjoyed hitting the dance floor on the weekends and were known for their graceful moves and infectious energy.
Gary will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, love, faith, and joy that will continue to inspire others for years to come. May he rest in peace.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Trecia Orrell and brother, Jackie Orrell
Gary is survived by his wife, Glenda, son Lynn and his wife Shellie, daughter Cheri and her husband Bob, and daughter Christy, 6 grandchildren: Ambrin and Ansley Orrell, Brayden Burton, Rylee and Ryan Green, and Charlee Baker; 2 great grandchildren: Baker and Beckham Burton.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 6th, 2023, at 1:30 PM at Cowboy Church, 15513 US-62 Apache, OK 73006. Burial to follow at Fort Cobb cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Fort Cobb Funeral Home.
As per Gary's wishes, there will be no visitation at the funeral home.

PERRY HAYNES

April 13, 2023

Just now (4-13-2023) learned of Gary's passing. Met him at Cameron JR College and kept in touch when we lived in OKC and by phone ever since. For many years Gary called me on my birthday. About two weeks ago, I mailed him a baby picture of Lynn. We had found it in some old pictures from OKC. I had wondered why I had not heard back. He was a wonderful man and long distance friend. I am shedding tears now and prayers for the family. Perry Haynes
