Gary Howard Peters, 81, of London, died Thursday, January 25, 2024, in the Madison Senior Living Community.
Born October 22, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio, he was a son of Lewis Howard Peters and Iola Nell (Courter) Peters.
Gary was a proud graduate of London High School in the class of 1960. He went on to serve his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era, where he worked for the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service (AFRTS). After his time in the service, Gary worked for the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services for over 25 years. He also enjoyed driving a school bus for London, Fairhaven, and West Jefferson Schools. Later he became the owner and operator of the Gary Peters Tax Service of London where he dedicated 36 years to the people of London. He had served as the chairman of the City of London Income Tax Advisory group, Safety Service Director, chair of the London Zoning Commission, member of the Aladdin Shrine Concert Band, past president of the Madison County Shrine Club, and a member of the Chandler Lodge #138. He was also a member of the Friends of the London Library and of St. John's Lutheran Church.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of almost 59 years Ruth (Rousculp) Peters of London; daughters Kelly (Steve) Cooley of London and Karen (Mike) Holland of Hilliard; brother James (Linda) Peters of Olathe, Kansas; sisters-in law Dorothy Rousculp of Millersville, MD and Bobbie Jo Cutlip, brothers-in-law David (Suzanne) Rousculp of Marietta, GA, and Andy Barton of Millersport, OH; grandchildren Jack Holland, Allie Holland, and Nick Holland, Connor (Blair) Cooley, and Will Cooley; many nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jack Peters; brother-in-law Fred Rousculp, sisters-in-law Carolyn Rousculp and Kathy Barton.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 29, 2024, beginning at 1:00 PM in the St. John's Lutheran Church, 380 Keny Blvd, London, Ohio 43140 with Pastor Blair Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Paint Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gary's name may be sent to St. John's Lutheran Church, 380 Keny Blvd, London, Ohio 43140, to Vitas Hospice, 655 Metro Pl S Ste 770, Dublin, OH 43017, or to the Madison County Senior Center, 280 W High St, London, OH 43140.

Gary use to have to 'try' and watch his 2 younger brothers in London, Ohio in the early 50s - when we the O'Connells (John and Ellen) lived near them we were added to the 'pack.' I know Gary would remember those days and the tricks we played on him. Rest in peace. Ellen O'Connell Brasel
