Gary W. Rogers, 77 of Albany, Ga, husband of forty-two years to Mary Ann McDowell Rogers, entered into eternal rest Monday, November 17, 2025.
His funeral service will 11:00 AM, Friday, November 21, 2025, at Mathews Funeral Home with Fr. Ray Levreault officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens, Albany, GA.
Gary was born April 30, 1948 in Waycross, GA, and was the son of the late James Caroll Rogers and Ruth Batten Strickland, Waycross, GA. Gary, known for his unmistakable crankiness, his quick, unexpected humor, and his love of a good time, was a man who could grumble and laugh in the same breath, while bringing laughter and warmth to everyone in his circle.
Gary enjoyed a long and successful career in the automotive industry, culminating in his last endeavor, Gary Rogers Auto Sales, before retiring. He was respected by colleagues and customers alike for his knowledge and dedication to the profession, and he took pride in a job well done. Even with a busy car lot, he always made time for the things he loved—telling others what to do, fishing, fishing and more fishing, grilling, and sharing fun times with family and friends.
In addition to his loving wife, Gary is survived by his son, Kevin Rogers of Albany, GA; daughter, Carmie Griffin (Scooter) of Leesburg, GA; daughter, Kelly Rogers (Dan Mondor) of Alpharetta, GA; daughter, Maria Hancock Woodul of Mount Pleasant, SC; sister, Brenda Young (Buddy) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend gratitude to everyone, especially the staff at the Willson Hospice House. In celebration of Gary’s life, the family encourages everyone to take the day off and head out on the water!
