Mr. Gary J Scott

Gary Scott, 70, of Salem passed away August 19, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born April 22, 1954, to Clifford and Alice (Atteberry) Scott.
Gary is survived by three daughters: Brandi Scott of Alabama, Tracy Albert (Dale) of Salem, and Joann Scott (Josh Garland) of Salem; Seven grandchildren: Andrea Parker, Shane Parker, Danny Parker, Elijah Smith, Damion Smith, Shianne Smith, and David Scott, all from Salem; Fourteen greatgrandchildren: Aiden Wright, Preston Wright, Kamdyn Wright, Elias Davis, Kaysen Davis, Kinsley Harden, Ava Vaughn, Noah Parker, Isobell Parker, Wesley Parker, Zayden Parker, Savannah Scott, Lucas Scott, and Gage Scott; two sisters: Joann Holzhausen (Mike) of Salem and Shirly Sweet of Salem; and favorite uncle Harlis Atteberry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Brother: Dennis Palmer; Sister: Louis Guymon; Son: Gary J Scott Jr.; Daughter: Kim Scott; and Great-granddaughter: Aubrianna Parker.
Gary enjoyed the many different adventures that being in the outdoors offered, including fishing, metal detecting, and mushroom hunting. He also loved to cook. As much as he enjoyed these things, his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
A funeral service will be held Monday, August 26, 2024, at 11:00am at the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home chapel, with Myron Lloyd officiating. Burial to follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Salem. A visitation will be held Sunday August 25, 2024, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at the Funeral Home for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Rankin Funeral Home at 310 N.
