Gary Signorino Obituary
Gary Signorino, a cherished educator, caring family man, and respected member of the Mishawaka community, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024, in his hometown of Mishawaka, Indiana, where he was born on March 17, 1943, to parents Rosario Signorino and Lora (Agati) Signorino. Gary's life was one defined by dedication-to his family, his students, and his community.
An alumnus with a master's degree, Gary devoted 11 years to Beiger Elementary School as a teacher and basketball coach, influencing the lives of his students. His passions extended beyond the classroom as he displayed exceptional service in the Mishawaka Housing Authority and the Mishawaka Building Trades Program, showcasing his commitment to progress and community development.
Gary's career also spanned into real estate and banking, where he excelled as a mortgage broker. His professional journey was marked by his enthusiasm for helping others achieve their dreams of homeownership and financial stability. He started by working for Waterfield and then retired from Northwest after being there for many years.
Beyond his professional life, Gary nurtured a love for the outdoors; he found joy and solace working in his cherished garden. His hands-on approach mirrored the care he took with all aspects of his life.
He is survived by his loving family, including his wife Mariellen Smessaert, his children, Jessica Signorino, and Ross (Ashley) Signorino, grandchildren; Olivia, Emily, and Jaxon Signorino; and his sister Mary (Brown) Sanders.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Rosario and Lora, his first wife and mother of his children, Virginia Ganser and his brother Ross Lucy Signorino.
Gary's legacy is one of love, leadership, and unwavering support, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. His life, though now a memory, continues to inspire and guide us.
A visitation will be held on Thursday July 18, 2024, form 4:00 PM – 7: 00 PM, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W 8th St, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday July 19, 2024, at 10 AM, in St. Bavo's Church, 511 W 7th St, Mishawaka.

I was one of his geography students at Beiger School. I found the class very interesting.
I learned through Mr Signorino's class is that Muslims have to pray facing Mecca 5 times a day and have to make a pilgrimage to Mecca once during their lifetime.
I like that daily commitment to prayer.
I'm sure I learned a lot of things in his class even though I can't remember them all.
