Gary O. Slankard

Gary O. Slankard passed away on January 22, 2026, at his residence in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on September 29, 1933, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to William O. Slankard and Anna Arnall Slankard. Gary was a proud Navy veteran and owner of Slankard Produce. He loved golf, traveling and gardening – especially growing tomatoes. He never met a stranger, loved talking about his family and always provided help for anyone in need. Mr. Slankard was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan Slankard; daughter, Janie Johnson; son, Jack McPartland; 6 sisters; and 6 brothers. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Christine Slankard; daughters, Virginia Fletcher (Ron Shively), Betsy Georges (Tab) and Amy Slankard; son, Bo McPartland (Laura); sister, Phyllis McLeod; daughter-in-law, Nancy McPartland; 10 grandchildren Erynn Moore (Tim), Garrett Fletcher (Danielle), Jesse Georges (Kelsey), Jeremiah Georges, Jamie Georges, Jordan Georges (Haylee), Tommy McPartland, Daniel McPartland, Sarah McPartland and Michael McPartland; and 5 great-grandchildren Maysen, Kade, Maggie, Rory and Leela, many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the non-profit organization Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes, the leading global type 1 diabetes research and advocacy, helping make everyday life with T1D better.

SERVICES

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Graveside Services will be on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 1:00pm at Mission Burial Park North, 20900 IH-10 West, San Antonio, Texas 78257, with Reverend Scott Simpson officiating.
