SLATTON, Gary Wayne - Age 81, of Burton, passed away Friday, June 27, 2025. Services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton (The service will be live streamed and can be viewed via Gary's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Robert Moran officiating. Burial immediately following at Great Lake National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, July 9th, from 4-8 PM and Thursday from 11 AM until the time of the service. Those desiring, may make contributions to the D.A.V. or Tunnel to Towers, in his name.
Gary was born December 27, 1943 in Monroe, the son of Fred Clay and Helen Irene (Cochenour) Slatton. He was a 1962 graduate of Airport High School in Carleton. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Navy. He married Diane Mary Scheffler February 9, 1980 in Brighton. Gary had resided in Burton for the past 17 years coming from White Lake.
Surviving are: his wife, Diane; children, Brian (Angela) Bates of Flushing, Kendrick (Elizabeth) Bates of Swartz Creek, Aaron (Lyndsay) Bates of Arizona and Stephanie Slatton (Mitch Nowacki) of Grand Blanc; 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; siblings, Thomas (Joan) Slatton of Carleton, Carroll (James) Chipurdy of Carleton and Jerry Slatton of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Helen Slatton; brothers, Fred II, Robert and Marvin Slatton; and sister, Margaret Hendricks. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
