Gary L. Steinhardt, 64, of Kiel, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024 at his home. Gary was born December 5, 1959, in Plymouth, to the late Roy and Evelyn (Mayer) Steinhardt. Gary graduated from Plymouth High School in 1978. He played on the football team in 1977-78 and was part of the team that made it to the State Championship. On March 4, 1994, he married Lynn Voigt in Sheboygan. Gary was employed as a truck driver for various companies before his retirement from PTX Services in 2022 due to health concerns.
Gary was an avid football and Green Bay Packers fan, attending games with his wife. Gary raced stock cars at Plymouth Speedway when he was younger and was a fan of NASCAR and IRA Sprint Car races.
In addition to his wife, Lynn, he is survived by his step-children; Eric (Amanda) Stempihar and Carrie Stempihar; his step-grandchildren, Nakoya and Alana Stempihar and Skylar and Lexi Ritchie; his brother, David (Sue) Steinhardt; his sister, Debbie (Cliff) Cook and his beloved dog and friend, Doogie. He is further survived by nieces, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother, Vera.
A memorial service for Gary will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt-DeTroye Funeral Home (815 6th Street, Kiel). Visitation will be held on Sunday, at the funeral home, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Please visit www.meiselwitzfh.com to send online condolences.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael Johnson and his nurse practitioner, Theresa, Gary's nurses, Vicki and Maria, Dr. Mark Albertini, his transplant nurse, Jessica and his special friends, Carol, Tom, Dennis, Linda and Robbie for all their care and concern, and for keeping him with us as long as possible.
Gary put a smile on every face he met and he will be greatly missed.
