LIMA -- Gary John Stopczynski, 68 of Lima, passed away November 6, 2024, at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center, with his loving wife by his side.
Gary was born February 13, 1956, in Madison Heights, MI, to John and Wanda (Wysocki) Stopczynski, who preceded him in death. On September 23, 1977, he married the love of his life, Laurie (McGinn) Stopczynski, who survives him in Lima.
Gary was a 1974 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Dearborn, MI and he went on to further his education at Henry Ford Community College, University of Toledo and Lima Technical College. He worked as a Journeyman Toolmaker for various employers including General Dynamics and Grob until his retirement in 2008 from Ametek. Gary was a member of St. Charles of Borromeo Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a talented woodworker and he loved maintaining a well-manicured lawn.
In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by his children, Kristen (Brian) Winter and Gregory Stopczynski; sister, Doreen Harris and his cat, Piper.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, James Harris.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at St. Charles of Borromeo Catholic Church with Father Kent Kaufman to officiate. Entombment will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the St. Charles Gathering Space.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles of Borromeo Catholic Church or the Ohio ASPCA.
