Robert Paul Stopczynski, “Dr. Bob”, was a beloved father, husband, brother, grandfather and cherished friend, passed away on May 18, 2025, after a courageous battle with Lewy body dementia. He was 74 years old, born August 13, 1950 to the late Alex and Mary Catherine Stopczynski of Granger, Indiana.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Gisela Stopczynski; and his brothers, Jim and Bill Stopczynski.
Bob is survived by his son, Nicholas Stopczynski; and his daughter, Debbie (Dan) Smogor; stepdaughters, Kim Cole and Melissa Barrier; grandchildren, Austen (Julie) Hesch and Lauren (Jordan) Mieras; siblings, Carolyn (Phil) Malstaff, Linda (Booge) Einfalt, John (Jeannie) Stopczynski, Patty (Rodney) Snyder, Joan (Jack) Thomas, and Pam Stopczynski; as well as many, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Bob’s life was marked by numerous passions and accomplishments that shaped his character and touched the lives of those around him. Born and raised on a farm with his eight siblings, Bob learned the values of hard work, dedication, and family from an early age.
In 1976, he married the love of his life, Gisela Stopczynski. Bob took great pride in his career as a veterinarian, after graduating from Purdue Veterinary School of Medicine. Dr. Bob began his Veterinary career at Lincolnway Veterinary Clinic and later opened his own practice, Three Point Veterinary Clinic in Elkhart Indiana. Throughout his career, he devoted himself to caring for animals and the community until he retired in 2021. His passion for his work was evident in the love and compassion he showed to every patient and their owners.
An avid fisherman, master griller, and big Purdue fan, Bob found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a unique talent for making people laugh. Humor was a defining trait of Bob’s personality. He had a knack for lightening the mood with his corny jokes and playful pranks, reminding everyone that laughter is an essential part of life. His ability to bring joy to those around him made him a beloved figure among friends, family and his clients. His infectious smile and warm spirit will be deeply missed.
In honoring Bob’s memory, the family wishes to acknowledge the vital role caregivers played in his life, recognizing their efforts as a testament to the power of compassion in healthcare. He leaves behind a lasting impression on all who knew him, reminding us to cherish every moment and to always find joy in life’s little things. Dr. Bob’s legacy extends beyond his professional achievements; it lies in the hearts of everyone who knew him. His compassion, humor, and dedication to his family and community will be remembered and cherished for years to come.
In honor of Bob, a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 4:00 p.m., with visitation beginning an hour prior at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, Granger, IN (Entrance off Cherry Rd.)
