Gary Storsberg Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc. - Whitesboro on Mar. 2, 2025.
Edmund Gerhardt Storsberg
Whitesboro and Trenton, NY
January 3, 1960 – February 27, 2025
Edmund Gerhardt Storsberg, known to many as Gary, and having acquiring a Lordship was subsequently known as Lord Gerhardt Storsberg, passed away on February 27, 2025, after a life filled with adventure, laughter, practical jokes, sarcasm, and deep devotion to his family. Born on January 3, 1960, in New Hartford, New York, he was the beloved son of Edmund and Betty Storsberg. He pursued his formal education at SUNY Fredonia before embarking on a successful 33-year career in the pharmaceutical industry, where he found great satisfaction in helping others.
In 1981, he married his best friend and lifelong adventure partner, Daryl Austin, in Whitesboro, New York. Together, they built a life rich in love, humor, and exploration. Gary was passionate about protecting the Adirondacks, a place that became his sanctuary and second home where he built a log cabin by hand. Pine Creek Lodge was his sanctuary. Whether hiking through the woods, fishing in quiet waters, or climbing rocks just for the challenge, he found peace in nature.
Gary was a collector of stories, words, and treasures-books, antiques, historical artifacts, magic tricks & knots. He had a sharp wit and a love for practical jokes, always keeping those around him entertained. Dump day was an event-enhanced by a drink with friends at Pelletteri Joe's, Whitestown Legion or one of his other favorite haunts. Cooking was an art, and music, painting, dance, and sarcasm were part of his everyday rhythm. His presence was larger than life, filled with wisdom, humor, and unwavering loyalty. As an accomplished artist and published author, he was excited to share his stories and was gratified when anyone connected with his visions. He was truly a renaissance man.
Above all, Gary's greatest pride and joy was his family. He leaves behind his loving wife, Daryl, with whom he shared 43 incredible years-"43 years in a row," as he often liked to say. He was a loving & devoted father to Alexandra and Dann Brissenden, Erik and Ashley Storsberg, and Ian Storsberg, and a magical Papa Gary to Hunter and Blake Brissenden and Sophie and Caroline Storsberg. He is survived as well by his beloved little brother, Hans, sister-in-law Samantha Storsberg and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, along with lifelong friends of his children that were like family. He never realized how many lives he touched or memories he made that will not be forgotten.
Gary lived for adventure-whether in Cape Cod, Alaska, Europe, or most often, the Adirondacks, where his heart truly belonged. His spirit will forever echo in the forests he loved, in the laughter of his family, and in the countless stories he left behind. He was a man of deep curiosity, boundless humor, and enduring love, and he will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 6th at Dimbleby Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Whitesboro, NY from 3 – 5, then time for sharing memories from 5 – 6. We would love to hear your stories. We will then meet at Whitesboro Legion Post 1113 to share more. In lieu of flowers please consider honoring his memory by contributing to either Protect The Adirondacks or The Shriner's Hospital.
In his own words - "We're the Storsbergs, and damn proud of it!". We will strive to continue to make you proud.
