Gary W. Temp, 73, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025. He was born October 11th, 1951, in La Crosse, Wisconsin to William and Frances (Wolfe) Temp.
After graduating from Central High School in La Crosse, Gary proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Germany. Upon his return, he attended and played football at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and went on to complete his police training at Western Technical College. Gary then served the town of Campbell as an officer on the police force before moving to Milwaukee where he retired serving in their homicide department. Once settled in Matlacha, Florida, Gary worked as a bridge tender for Lee County until 2017, when hurricane Irma caused irreparable damage to the bridge house. He spent his retirement enjoying drinks with good friends, fine foods, and taking in the sights around him.
Gary is survived by his brother Duke (Susan) Temp of La Crosse, WI, niece Jessica (Bryant) Davidson of La Crosse, WI, and great-niece Elizabeth, as well as his dear friends Patty and Tammi of Port Charlotte, FL.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents.
