Gary Lee Thompson, 84, born in Ashland, WI on July 23rd, 1940, moved to Heaven on Friday, October 18th, 8:25am at Akron General Medical Center after complications from pneumonia. He was preceded by his parents Emil Ralph and Myrtle Janet {Anderson} Thompson and elder brother Myron Eugene Thompson.
Gary married Catherine Anne {Durst} on March 10, 1962, and they shared 62 years together. Also surviving are their sons Gary Thompson, Jr. from FL, Gregg and Lida {Balsinger} Thompson and Glenn and Missy {Evans} Thompson; as well as grandchildren Benjamin and Kristen {Steele} Thompson, Elissa, Samuel and Christie {Magrell} Thompson, Sarah (Ben) Radcliff, Rebekah, Chloey, Tyler, Logan, Hannah, and Zoe; great-grandchildren Paige, Caleb, and Callan. Gary cherished his relationship with his brother Myron and his family, including nephew Michael and Monica {Gray} Thompson and Michael’s sons David and Peter Thompson, all of IL.
Gary graduated from Parma Senior High School, and then attended Fenn College. He worked for RDP Corporation, which spanned from 1970 until 2003, where he worked as a sales representative and vice-president.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Monday, October 28th from 11:30 a.m. until the funeral service, beginning at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Cyndie Rogers officiating. Interment to follow the service at Northlawn Memorial Gardens, 4724 State Rd. Peninsula, OH 44264, where Gary will be laid to rest. Cemetery service in the mausoleum.
