Gary Lionel Trotter

Gary Lionel Trotter, 76, devoted husband of the late Debra Mills Trotter, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2025.
Gary's journey took him from the small town of Claymont to earning his bachelor's degree in economics from Talladega and Florida A&M University (FAMU), an achievement that paved the way for a successful career in medical sales. His dedication and commitment to his profession culminated in many successful years at Smith-Medical, where he was esteemed not only for his work ethic but also for the kindness he extended to everyone around him.
A proud father, Gary leaves behind his three daughters, India Trotter, Chelsey Trotter Lloyd, and Leah Trotter Robinson. He is also survived by his dear siblings, Herbert, Paul, Wayne Trotter, and Myrtha Randolph; sisters-in-law, Denise Taylor and Iris Mills, and his brothers-in-law, Alan and Butch Mills, as well as a multitude of relatives and friends whose lives were touched by his generous spirit and vibrant personality.
Gary's spirit was illuminated by his passions. He had a passion for history, enjoyed the thrill of Sunday night football, and had a deep appreciation for jazz music that filled his home and heart with joy. A lover of the sun, he embraced tropical weather with open arms.
In addition to his parents and his loving wife, Gary was preceded in death by sisters, Julianna Mayfield and Zelda Trotter; brothers, Webster, Harold, and Holland Trotter.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown with a reception to follow until 7:00 p.m.
