RUSSELL-A celebration of life for Gary A. Whiting, 75, of Russell will be planned for a date to be announced.  Mr. Whiting died at Gouverneur Hospital on Thursday afternoon, October 19th, 2023.

Arrangements are under the direction of LaRue & Pitcher Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.

Gary A. Whiting was born on August 19th, 1948, in Massena, NY.  He was the son of the late William and Mary (LaRose) Whiting.  He was a graduate of Massena Central School.  He worked as a Plumbing and Heating Technician for many companies around New York State.   He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.  He loved to drive the backroads anywhere he went.  Most of all he loved family gatherings and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his partner of 43 years Debra Sargent, his children; Tammy Niles and her husband Brian of Moira, Michael Whiting of Cicero, Kimberly Sargent of Florida, and Lori Ouderkirk and her husband Eric of San Antonio, TX.  He is also survived by his grandchildren; Randy Whiting and his wife Mandy, Britney Cook, Allison St. John, Jordan Page, Emmali Ouderkirk, Lillian Ouderkirk, and Gary Ouderkirk as well as his great-grandchildren, Rylan, Brayden, Isabella, Tyler and Brodie.  The Holmes and Hockenbury family of Ogdensburg and Hammond also survive him.

He was predeceased by his siblings, William Whiting, Shirley Archambo, and Jean Hutt.
