Gena Lorayne Taylor, 56, of Mooresville, passed away at Community Hospital South on November 1, 2025, after a long health battle. Born in Indianapolis on June 22, 1969, she was the daughter of Gene Spencer and Elane (Hubbard) Spencer-Webber. Gena graduated from Decatur Central High School in 1987, excelling in volleyball, softball, basketball, and track. She later earned an associate's degree in criminal justice from Ivy Tech Community College.
Over the years, Gena was employed with Check into Cash, Mooresville First National Bank, and Jackson Hewitt, but she enjoyed being a stay-at-home mother the most.
Gena enjoyed reading, bowling, cooking, and cleaning. She was an avid collector of Beauty and the Beast and Barbie dolls. Most importantly, Gena loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Gena showed remarkable strength and grace in the face of lifelong health challenges. Though she faced many trials, nothing stopped her from being a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and niece.
Gena was preceded in death by her father, Gene Spencer; paternal grandfather, Floyd Spencer; and maternal grandparents, Bob and Helen Hubbard.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Taylor, whom she married on August 15, 1992; son, André Spencer (Nikki); daughter, Kirsten Taylor; mother, Elane Spencer-Webber (Mike); grandchildren, J.J., Andreá, and RemiJoe; brothers, Robert Spencer (Kim), Jim Spencer, Joe Spencer (Tiffany), Andy Spencer (Angie), Travis Spencer (Julie), and Charlie Spencer; sister, Tyler Spencer; aunts, Anita Green (Jeff) and Aggie Wright (Carl); uncle, Sherman Hubbard; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Doug Shinkle officiating. Burial will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
