Gene Francis Chrisman, 84, died March 29, 2025, at his home in Topeka. He was born January 8, 1941, on the family farm in Coffey County to Carroll Wilson and Berneta Alta (White) Chrisman. Gene graduated from Burlington High School and attended Fremont University in Nebraska for 2 years.
On November 4, 1962, he married Marilyn Nell Caruthers in Burlington. They shared 52 years of marriage before she died on April 22, 2015. They had 2 children and fostered another, Fred Frady for several years while he was in high school.
He owned and operated Chrisman Heating and Air with his brother Dennis and Chrisman Construction. He then was Plant Superintendent for Dream Homes until he retired.
Gene was a member of the Congdon-Kepler Post 38, of the American Legion at Burlington and board member at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Gene was a homebody and enjoyed watching NASCAR and the occasional pickup game of pool or spades at a local tavern.
Gene proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged.
Gene is survived by: daughter, Gena Roberts and husband Terry; son, Rob Chrisman and wife Julia, all of Topeka, and foster-son Fred Frady and wife Sheena of Lavonia, Georgia; grandchildren, Dathan Chrisman and wife Betsy of Shawnee, Kansas, Braden and Kyleigh Chrisman of Topeka, Kansas, Callie, Courtney and Brooke of Georgia; great grandchildren, Jacob, Luke and Clara Chrisman all of Shawnee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, twin-brother Jack Chrisman, Gayle Ann Lewis and (Carroll) Dennis Chrisman.
Celebration of life visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2025, at Jones Funeral Home, Burlington.
There will be a short prayer and military taps service at Baker Cemetery for his internment. It will take place at a later date, to be announced, for those that wish to attend.
Memorial donations may be made to, American Cancer Society or American Lung Association, in care of Jones Funeral Home PO Box 277 Burlington, KS 66839.
GRAVESIDE SERVICES WILL BE HELD 1:30 P.M. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 9, 2025, AT BAKER CEMETERY WEST OF BURLINGTON.
