Gene O. Halbrook, age 85, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, surrounded by his daughters. He was born on June 24, 1940 in Green Bay, WI, to the late Norman and Leona (DeJardin) Halbrook.
Gene proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1961. In his early years, he owned and operated several gas stations and later owned JR’s Tavern & GeneO’s Wagon Wheel.
He is survived by his daughters, Christine Stencil, Patti (Tom) Bohmke, and Lisa (Bernie) Watzka; his longtime friend, Marylin Duesing; the mother of his children, Sandi (Jensen) Halbrook; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Leona (DeJardin) Halbrook; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald (Virginia) Halbrook; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria (Harold) Cowan and Nancy (Gene) McCarthy; his son-in-law, Gerald Stencil; and six grandchildren twins Eric and Elizabeth Stencil, Charlie and Bill Stencil, twins Brittany and Brett Bohmke.
Per his wishes, there will be no service.
