Geneva Posey Gregory

Clarice Geneva Posey Gregory (Geneva) of Acworth, Ga passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta at the age of 93. Born on Christmas Eve, 1930, the 8th of 9 children, she passed from this life a week shy of her 94th birthday. Preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Thomas Hardy Gregory II, parents John Arthur Posey and Mary Ida Gladden Posey, her five brothers: Earlie Posey, James Posey, Frankie Posey, Edison Posey and John Posey, her sisters: Sara Clifford Greene and Edna Ellington and grandson John Michael Gregory.
Born in Cordele, Geneva attended Georgia Southwestern College where she met Tom. She was a special education teacher and a career army wife, roles she truly enjoyed. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church growing up, where her father was a deacon. Geneva is survived by her four children: Thomas (Kim) Hardy Gregory, IIl of Acworth, Paul (Anita) Gregory of Jasper, Mark Gregory of Stockbridge, and Timothy Lee Gregory of Acworth, her sister, Myrtie Pettis (100!) Of Cobb and grandchildren: Debbie Gregory, Heather (Chris) Messer, Mary (Alex) Dye, John Gregory, Seth (Aubrey) Gregory, Joshua (Christa) Gregory, Will (Abby) Gregory and Emily Gregory and seven great-grandchildren: Barrett, Judah, Remington, June, Joy, Landon and Grayson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with the Rev. Don Howell Officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service Monday, December 23, 2024 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
