Genevieve C. Boutin

Genevieve C. Boutin, 89, of Manchester, NH, died May 5, 2005, at Merrimack Community Hospice House, after a period of declining health.

Born in Norwich, CT on February 19, 1916, she was the daughter of Virtume and Mary V. (Roy) Quinn. She resided in Manchester most of her life.

Mrs. Boutin graduated from Holy Family Academy, Baltic, CT. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from College of Newrochelle, Newrochelle, NY and received her master’s degree in social work from Boston College School of Social Work.

During World War II, Mrs. Boutin served with the American Red Cross in the Pacific Theater and the Philippines.

Early in career, she was an executive secretary and social worker with New Hampshire Catholic Charities. Later, she worked a social worker with Child and Family Services, Manchester, for ten years, until her retirement in 1975.

She was active with North Little League Program where she served as secretary. Mrs. Boutin was also involved with the Smyth Road Elementary School PTA. She taught Sunday school at Saint Catherine Church

She was a communicant of Saint Joseph Cathedral.

In her life: Mrs. Boutin will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, whose family was the center of her. She was sports enthusiast who especially enjoyed the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Celtics. She was an avid reader. She was predeceased by a brother, Judge Francis Quinn and a sister, Maureen Quinn.

Family members include her husband of fifty-five years , Eugene R. Boutin of Manchester, NH, two sons, Gregory Boutin of Burke, VA and Paul Boutin of Shelburne, VT; three daughters, Dr. Eugenie Boutin of Grafton, MA, Elizabeth Gaffen of Bedford, NH and Maura Stetson of Newport, NH; ten grandchildren; her brother, Dr. John Quinn of Wheaton, Maryland; her sister, Irene Quinn of Conn.

She was pre-deceased by her son, Mark F. Boutin who died in 2003.

Services: Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union Street, corner of Concord Street, Manchester, NH.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 9:15AM from the funeral home, followed by a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 AM in Saint Joseph Cathedral, Manchester.

Burial will take place in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH.
