Gensch, Robert D., 94, retired petroleum geologist, died Sept. 5, 2015. Funeral service 1:00 pm, Friday, Sept. 11, at Heartland Community Church. Bob was a successful petroleum geologist, landman and oil operator. After serving in the Infantry in Gen Patton's 3rd Army in WW II he finished his geology degree at WSU (1947), was an engineer in Texas with Amoco, then geologist with Bridgeport Oil Co, and eventually District Engineer and Mgr for Deep Rock Oil Corp in Wichita. In 1954 he became an Independent Geologist and later Owner of Marshel Oil & Gas. His sense of humor, charming personality, endearing orneriness and love for his friends and family will always be happily remembered. Bob was preceded in death by his wives, Gloria (1961) and Patty (2011); sister, Betty Lester; and grandchildren, Michael and Glorianna Gensch. Survivors include his sons, John (Cindy) Gensch of Wichita and their children, Jeromy and Ben Gensch; David (Denise) Gensch of Houston, TX and their children, Ryan, Eric and Jonathan Gensch; Gary (Diane) Gensch of Wichita and their children, Christine Kelly, Brian and Daniel Gensch; daughter; Marty Lee of Wichita and her children, Chelsea Loy and Kayla Lee; 9 great-grandchildren; cousin, Jean Binford of Scottsdale, AZ; and faithful companion dog, Ruby.
