George Ahrend

George Suckert Ahrend, 89, of Sandy, Utah, slipped peacefully into eternal rest on his birthday, September 12, 2025, surrounded by all of his children.

Born in Holladay, Utah, in 1936 to George and Helene Ahrend, George was their long-awaited only child. He grew up with a deep love of nature, hard work, and faith, and was often found kneeling in prayer.

George graduated from Jordan High School at just 16 and attended BYU before beginning a long career in sales, ultimately becoming co-owner of Russell Sales with his dear friend Gary Peck. He was a talented and passionate salesman, traveling the West and building lasting relationships with customers and colleagues.

In 1959, George married the love of his life, Judith Kesler. He built two homes-literally-and together they raised five children. George created a childhood full of adventure, from motorcycles and snowmobiles and sledding in Willow Creek to skiing every weekend, trips to California, Flaming Gorge, and Lake Powell. We've been blessed with a lifetime of unforgettable memories.

George loved working with his hands, tending his yard, and working in his garage- especially restoring his beloved 1974 Pantera, whose rumble never failed to make him smile. But his greatest joy came later in life as a grandfather and great-grandfather. He cherished each new baby, celebrated every milestone, and proudly told everyone about the love and support of his children.

George was preceded in death by his sweetheart, Judie, and his parents.

He is survived by his five children, Timothy (Joy), Stephanie (Rick Smith), Spencer (Lisa), Matthew (Julianna) Elizabeth (Jeremy McLean) and many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of love, faith, and adventure.

We want to thank our Dad's diabetes support Nurses Christina and Sylvia who helped our sweet/grumpy Dad with technology too complex for his liking. Dr. Kacie Doyle DelGato for her exceptional care and friendship.
