George Boyce, 94, passed away on December 17, 2023, in Dallas.
George Boyce was born on January 30, 1929 in Caddo Mills, TX, to George Boyce and Bessie Boyce.
George served the citizens of Mesquite in various offices - first as a Council member from 1961-1965, as Mayor from 1965-1973 and then as Municipal Court Judge from 1981-1988. He worked for the City of Mesquite for over 20 years.
He served as President of the North Central Council of Governments, President of the Mayor's and Councilman Association of the Texas Municipal League and President of Dallas County Municipal League. George won the Liberty Bell Award in 1970-71 for being the most outstanding citizen in Mesquite.
George has served as a member of the Civitan Club, the Lions Club and the Rotary Club.
He was a member of the Washington Masonic Lodge, the Hella Temple Shrine and Scottish Rite. He was a 50+ year member of all three association.
George was a member of the Eastridge Park Christian Church, where he participated in the Discovery Sunday School Class. He served the church as Chairman of the Board in 1994.
Surviving are George (Jodi) Boyce - son, of Dallas, TX, Clyde (Janet) Boyce - son, and several grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, at 6:00 - 9:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home.
Private Graveside Services will be held on another date.
