George Wesley Brown, 83, of Crooksville peacefully died in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Cedar Hill Care Center.

He was born on September 15, 1941, in Crooksville, a son of the late Adrian “Bill” and Letty (Harris) Brown.

Known for his strong work ethic, George spent all of his working life as a caster for many local potteries; including Cookson, Brush, Friendship and went on to retire from Burley Pottery. George had many enjoyments in life, such as caring for his flower and vegetable gardens, pretty much anything outside, collecting DVDs--especially his favorite Western films, and loved watching the Cincinnati Bengals.

Above all, George was an incredible father, he stepped up at a young age to adopt his son, Bryan, he continued sharing this paternal act of kindness in being a grandfather to all. Being a grandpa was his greatest joy. All those that loved George are deeply saddened by his passing.

George leaves behind, his son, Bryan (Crystal) Brown; his grandchildren, Marissa (Jordan) Greer, Karah Brown, Mirranda (Cody) Anderson and Mckayla Chevalier; as well as his great grandchildren, Jayce Greer, Josie Greer, Connor Parmer, Ashton Anderson, Logan Anderson and Huxtyn Bailey. He is also survived by his brother, Steve (Theresa) Brown; his stepbrother, Ron (June) Harbaugh and his caregiver, Ladonna Pharis.

In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Joyce Ann (Shepard) Brown who died December 1, 2011; and his siblings, Edna Craigo, Myron Brown, Miles Brown, Bernard Brown and Brady Brown.

Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects from 2-4:00 PM and 6-8:00 PM, Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St., Crooksville. Funeral services will be 12:00 PM, Friday, August 29, 2025, at the funeral home with Pastor Marc Caton officiating. George will then be buried in Crooksville Cemetery.
