George Richard Cable, Sr., 82, of Mechanicsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025.
Born in Danbury, Connecticut in 1942, George lived a life full of love and cherished moments. He joined the Marine Corp at 18 years old and served his country for four years.
He first settled in Marlow Heights, Maryland and worked in many positions in the car industry. He eventually moved into car sales working at various dealerships including Pohanka Oldsmobile, Wilson Powell Lincoln Mercury, Croyste Toyota, Waldorf Nissan, Bayside Auto Sales, and Waldorf Ford. George never met a stranger and always took good care of his customers and all the personnel that ever worked for him. He was a wonderful, caring person whose kindness and warmth touched everyone he met.
George was an avid golfer and an accomplished race car driver winning many races over his career.
He is survived by his children; Thomas Cable (Pam), George Cable (Wendy), and Alyssa Cable. Grandchildren; Nicholas Cable (Courtney), Jamie Cable, Anthony Cable (Taylor), Justin Cable, and Great Grandson Landon Cable. His brothers; Douglas Cable, Gerald Cable, and sisters Sharon Cable, Jane Hammer, and Tina Cable. They will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
George was preceded in death by his Father Alton Cable and Mother Eleanor Cable, brothers; Alton Zeke Cable II, Gary Cable, and sister Cynthia Cable. His first wife Gloria Cable and second wife Donna Cable.
A memorial service will be held on May 15, 2025, from 1:00pm – 4:00pm with a service starting at 3:00pm at Raymond Funeral Home in La Plata, Maryland, where friends and family are invited to celebrate George's life. Burial at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery will take place on June 13, 2025 at 10:30am.
