George Cavanagh, 92 of Old Bridge, New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, New Jersey.
Born Tuesday, November 15, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York, George was the son of the late George and Rose Cavanagh.
George was raised in Brooklyn, and was a graduate of Erasmus Hall High School. George was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He would serve his country overseas, and earned an Honorable Discharge. George married the love of his life, Eileen Quigg, and the couple resided in Brooklyn. There they started their family and raised their children, before settling in Old Bridge in 1983.
A lifetime of public service, George began a career in Law Enforcement, working for the New York City Police Department before retiring after 22 years of service. While working on the force, George attended NYIT and earned his Associates. George would then go on to work with Merril Lynch as a Vice President in Security. When George wasn't working he enjoyed rooting for his favorite teams, the NY Mets and NY Giants. George and Eileen often took trips together to Atlantic City. More than anything George loved being with his family, and he will be missed by all those that love him.
George was predeceased by his brother James, by his son in law John Lewis and by his daughter in law Jackie.
George is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Eileen, by his loving children, Patricia Lewis, George Cavanagh, John Cavanagh and his partner Betty, and Eileen Williams and her husband Jack, by his caring sister Elizabeth Monahan, by his cherished grandchildren, George Jr., Katelyn, Tom, Jessica, Jack, Chris, Jenny, Daniel, Ryan, and Meaghan, and by his adored great grandchildren, Aiden, Lucas, Matteo, and Christian.
