George proudly served with the United States Army from 1958 to 1963. George's true passion was being a farmer and taking care of his animals on the farm. He enjoyed and took great pride in restoring his first new piece of farm machinery. George was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Nashville where he served on various boards and organizations. He was also a member of the Washington County Farm Bureau and the American Legion Post 110. He liked going to sporting events and he looked forward to escaping the cold and heading to Florida for the winter. George's top priority was always his family. He enjoyed being with them and taking his grandchildren on vacations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister in infancy, Eleanor; brother, Norman Engele, sister, Emily Brinkman and her husband Walter and brother in law, Dale Storck and his wife Vernita.
Funeral Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nashville, IL on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 10 AM with Pastor David Benning officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
