MORENCI-George Roberson Kuykendall, age 95, formerly of Morenci and Temperance, died Saturday morning, August 23, 2025, at Drews Place at Village Green in Hillsdale. He was born July 12, 1930, in Brooksville, FL, to the late James and Lena (Leggett) Kuykendall.
He was preceded in his death by his wife, Joan (Burns) Kuykendall; daughter, Shirley Zieler; siblings, Marie Marek, Gladys Bowles, Billy Kuykendall, Wilma Parker and Leon Kuykendall.
George is survived by daughters, Donna (Tom) Hecht, Kathy Blonde, Evelyn (Richard) Barve; and sons, Randy (Sue) Clement and Mark (Marty) Clement; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
George proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He enlisted in 1947 and moved up in rank to Master Sargeant. He was awarded a Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, and the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars before his honorable discharge in 1954.
After retirement from the Morenci Super Valu, he and Joan spent winters in Florida and summers at Green Valley Campground in Morenci. Together, they enjoyed fishing and traveling with family. While In Florida, George volunteered in the Inverness American Legion Honor Guard.
George spent his last year living with his granddaughter Skylar and enjoying the company of his great-grandson Gavien. He will be deeply missed.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. A celebration of his life will follow at the Morenci American Legion Post 368.
Memorial contributions can be made to support the Morenci American Legion Post 368. Arrangements have been made with the guidance of the Marry Funeral Home, Morenci.
