Beloved husband for 56 years of Betty (Hall) Loomis; father of Renée (Loomis) Beyeler and Ron Loomis (Christina Baker); grandfather of Evan Beyeler, Hans Beyeler, Colby McClellan (Jessica), Ezra Taimuty-Loomis, Adia Taimuty-Loomis, Symia Taimuty-Loomis, Kristiona Miller, and the late Jonah Taimuty-Loomis; great-grandfather of four; brother of Anita Krsak (Joe) and the late Eloise Jones (Bob); uncle of Robert "Bobby Jay" Jones (Terri) and their families and the late Dennis Jones.
Family will welcome friends on Sunday from 2-5pm at Schellhaas Funeral Home, Inc., 388 Center Avenue, West View, PA 15229. A service will be held on Monday at Christ Lutheran Church, 917 Evergreen Millvale, PA 15209 at 11am.
George was a retired pension actuary. Mr. Loomis, "Herb", developed an unstoppable passion for the underdog and marginalized. He also enjoyed the outdoors via hiking, appreciated wildflowers, played piano and accordion for pleasure, and served many years as a volunteer church organist.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to World Vision Pittsburgh: 210 Overlook Dr, Sewickley, PA 15143.
