Mike Nugent, age 75, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on 8 April 2023. He was born on 24 September 1947 to George and Bonnie (Scales) Nugent in Long Beach, California. His childhood was spent in Casper, Wyoming, Cortez, Colorado, and the family finally settled in Big Piney, Wyoming. He graduated from Big Piney High School in 1965, where he played football, basketball, and track. He attended the University of Wyoming and graduated in 1970 with a business degree. While at the university, he was a member of the ROTC. He married his high school sweetheart, Adela Kulinsky, in 1967, after which he joined the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant. He graduated from the Airborne and Ranger School at Fort Benning, Georgia. After his training he was assigned to Germany. After a short time at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, he was assigned to the 2nd Division in Korea, where he was commander of his unit. In 1978, he was honorably discharged as a captain and the family moved to Houston, Texas where Mike worked in business and sports sales. He also enjoyed playing racquetball and won several state and regional championships. In addition, he was a racquetball coach and instructor for many years.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bonnie Nugent, his brothers, Patrick and Tim Nugent, and grandparents John and Rose Nugent, and Mark and Emma Scales.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Adela (Kulinsky) Nugent, son George Michael Nugent Jr. (Amy), granddaughters Adeline and Josie Nugent, Uncle Dale Scales, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by many friends, especially those who helped in his golf shop. Mike was a friend to all and will be missed by all who knew him.

I am sorry for your loss. Mike was a great customer and a better friend to me for many years. I always stopped at Impact Golf when I drove through Houston. I always told Mike I would never drive through Houston and not stop to see him. I will miss his friendship and talking to him on the phone. Truly a wonderful caring man. May the memories you have help heal your hearts.

My condolences to the family. Mike is one of the best men I´ve ever met. Always nice, kind, and somehow remembered everyone that walked thru the door at the golf shop.... A gentle giant and a "true legend". He will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear about Mike. He was my kid's golf grandpa. He always had a smile and time for us.

Mike was so many things to so many people-mentor to golfers young and old, ready to add his expertise to all who sought it. He was my friend most of all, even in tough times I could always count on him to lift my spirits, counsel me about my golf purchases, sell my stuff with integrity, and make me laugh over and over through countless hours of fellowship. I will sorely miss him and treasure my time with him. Tom Trigger

We are going to miss you very much. I´m going to miss our conversations at the shop on sports and politics. Thank goodness we were on the same side. Westella won´t be the same at our Night´s Out. You were so proud of your granddaughters and always had pictures to show us. RIP my friend.
