George Perry Keith Lum was born on April 30, 1980 in Princeton, NJ to George and Patricia Lum and passed away at home March 2, 2025.
George, affectionately known as "Georgie", began his schooling at Incarnation Catholic School, which was also his church home. He later transferred to the Ewing public school system and graduated from Ewing High School as a proud member of the Class of 1998. George's time in school was not just about academics, it was about his passion for football too. He started his football career in the Ewing Rec Peewee football league at the age of five, and continued through his years at Ewing High where he played varsity football. After high school, George continued his education at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He later would enroll in the business program at DeVry University in New Brunswick, and dedicated himself to his education there and earned his degree in Business Administration.
George moved to Atlanta and accepted a position as the General Manager for CVS where he was employed for two years. George relocated back to NJ and started working at the University Medical Center at Princeton. While employed there, Princeton enrolled Georgie into the Sterile Processing Training Course, where he earned his certification as a Certified Instrument Specialist. George was employed as a Certified Instrument Technician for fourteen years. A valued employee, he was well-respected and cherished by his colleagues and patients. Georgie also worked alongside his father, George in his family construction business, providing outstanding services locally and travelling to other locations such as South Carolina and Florida.
An avid fan of karate since a young child, George's karate training journey began at the age of three. George displayed exceptional talent and determination, earning his black belt in American Korean Karate at the age of 10! This accomplishment led to George being recognized as the youngest person in Mercer County to ever earn a blackbelt. From childhood to adulthood, it was not uncommon to find George practicing with his nun chucks, knives, and karate sticks, happy and embracing the art of martial arts that he loved so dearly.
Georgie was an adventurous soul, who also had an immense passion for gaming with his friends and traveling with his family all over the world. A recent family trip that he really enjoyed was to St. Martin to celebrate his parent's 50th wedding anniversary. George also took great joy in gathering with his family during the holidays and for family events. He was typically always found at the center of laughter and seated near the food, especially close to the macaroni and cheese! Georgie was a practical joker with a generous heart of gold.
Although Georgie was the youngest of his siblings, he fiercely protected his older sisters as if he were their big brother. He considered Chi Chi and Lisa amongst his best friends. Uncle Gei, as he was affectionally called by his nephew and nieces, wholly loved his sisters' children and enjoyed spending time with them. A big kid at heart, Uncle Gei was definitely a favorite of his nephew and nieces. He was deeply cherished by them along with the children of his close friends.
In addition to their shared love for automobiles, George and his father shared a die-hard love for their team, The Philadelphia Eagles. Whether tailgating, attending the games, or watching the games at home, they enjoyed creating special moments centered around their love for their team. George wore his team colors proudly and loyally represented them when they lost and loudly celebrated the team's victories with unrivaled enthusiasm. George was particularly excited about their latest Super Bowl win and attended the parade. He was ecstatic to be able to witness two Super Bowl victories by his beloved team.
George had a most remarkable relationship with his mother, Patricia, who was not only his caregiver but also his lifetime best friend, confidant, and biggest supporter. They called each other "road dog," and enjoyed embarking on many adventures together, cherishing their Mother and Son time. They loved visiting Atlantic City, or just going out to eat together. When George moved back into the home, Patricia was always with him, taking care of him, ensuring that he had the highest quality of life possible and the best care. Through life's ups and downs, they remained inseparable. Their evenings often ended with George nestled beside her, basking in the the warmth of her affection with a head scratch here, and a back rub there, each gesture a testament to their deep connection and that unbreakable Mother and Son bond.
A charmer, George was known for his million-dollar smile, infectious laugh and a genuine friendliness that made all feel welcome. His spirit and love for life will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
George was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Roosevelt and Dorothy Perry, and paternal grandparents, Herman and Mary Lum.
He will be deeply missed by his parents, George and Patricia Lum of Ewing, NJ; sisters, Mary (Barry) Wilkins of Westampton, NJ, and Lisa Birchenough of Ewing, NJ; nieces, Tatiana, Aniya, Mia, and Bria; nephew Evan; and a host of cousins, family and friends.
It will not be easy to accept George's earthly absence. May he rest in peace, forever cherished in our hearts and memories.
