George Washington "G.W." Revis went to his heavenly home on April 25, 2025. G.W. as most everyone knew him, was a proud veteran of the United States Army who served honorably in Korea being awarded a bronze star for his courageous efforts.

G.W. was raised in the Barker's Creek Community of Jackson County along with ten other siblings. G.W. cherished his siblings and each maintained a special place in his heart. He worked for many years with the phone company in Sylva and came to know many citizens during this time as he established and repaired lines getting his fellow members of the community connected with the world. After retirement, G.W. operated his own electrical business where he continued serving his neighbors.

G.W.'s found the love of his life and married Patricia Bryson in 1956 as they remained married for 63 years until her passing in 2019. Often their conversations were spent speaking of things they were thankful for, things they wanted to do and places they wanted to see. They enjoyed each other fully and whole heartedly as a married couple should.

G.W. was preceded in death by his father Jewell Jason Revis and his mother Gertrude Buchanan Revis. GW was also preceded in death by his sisters Stella Dowis, Mary Branson, Carolyn Middleton, Peggy Rigdon, Cindy Rigdon and brothers Claude Revis, Bobby Joe Revis and James Revis.

GW leaves behind his son, George Edward "Eddie" Revis and his wife Mary Beth. Additionally surviving are two sisters, Nancy Sherrill and Sara Parker.

On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Sylva, the family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm. Following the funeral, G.W. will be laid to rest beside of his wife at Fairview Memorial Gardens. The United States Army will assist with honors as part of a graveside service.

The family would like to ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Legion, Post 104, Post Office Box 104 Sylva, NC 28779.
