George Edward Robertson, Jr was born to George Sr & Mozella Robertson on March 22, 1944.  He attended IPS School 56 and Graduated from Arsenal Technical High School.

George served in the United States Army from August 1964- August 1966 at Fort Riley, Kansas, and received several commendations along with an honorable discharge. He also served in the Army Reserve until 1968.

After a long courtship, George was joined by marriage to Willette (Cobb) Shanklin in August 2007. He affectionally called her Baby Lou- --Why “Because that my baby!” However, he also called her Answer 1 She called him Buddy!----They worked side by side in everything they did whether it was yard work, church duties, or family functions. Where you saw one you always knew the other was close by. Even when he took his last breath, she was right by his side!

George graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He retired from Goodwill Industries as a Placement Specialist. He received a Key to the city from Mayor Hudnut during his employment. George joined St Paul Brightwood United Methodist Church in 1989 which later became Miracles and Blessings UMC. He served as Trustee- chairperson, Administrative Council -Chairperson, United Methodist Men-President, and any other open position.

Growing up Geroge was called “ Killer” because when he played Spades or Bid Wiz he was a Killer of the game. He had a gift for trash talking and when he talked, he wanted Everybody to listen to him. We often called him G O. George enjoyed vacationing and outings with his Family. His favorite saying was “Let um Roll!” - and we knew what that meant.

George was a giver from the heart. – a giver of words, free-hearted get mad at you but it only was hot air!! If you were ever in need he was always there. Christmas time he tried to give everyone he knew a gift. Even if he didn’t know you, he kept a $2.00 bill so if he sees children he had something to give to them as well.

George transitioned on Wednesday, August 28: Proceeding in death by both parents. He leaves to cherish his memories, wife Willette (Cobb) Robertson; sons: Mark & Charlie Robertson, Troy Robertson (Wendy), and Curtis Shanklin; daughters, Valarie Perkins, and Glenda Shanklin; sisters, Mary Medley and Roberta (Jackie) Thomas; brothers: John (Lula) Robertson and Bobby Robertson. A host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and relatives and friends.
