George David Rudisill, 64, of
Lubbock, Texas, passed away in San Antonio, Texas, on October 13, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia.
David was born on July 27, 1961, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, to George Preston and Mona Mayvene Rudisill. He grew up in
Lubbock, Texas, and graduated from Coronado High School. Shortly after, he proudly joined the United States military and served his country with honor until his discharge in 1982.
After returning home, David attended South Plains College and earned his EMT license. He was also a certified mechanic, known for his talent, patience, and the way he could fix just about anything.
David devoted more than 40 years to the State of Texas, working for the Lubbock State School before retiring from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice J.T. Montford Unit after 32 years of dedicated service. He also volunteered for many years as a firefighter with the West Carlisle Volunteer Fire Department, where his friends and fellow firefighters fondly called him "Rudy."
He attended Highland Baptist Church in Lubbock with his wife, Eva, and when he could no longer attend in person, he continued worshiping online faithfully. His quiet faith, strength, and steady love for his family were a true reflection of the man he was.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Mona Mayvene and George Preston Rudisill of Lubbock; sister, Mikel Faye Albers of Dallas; stepson, Michael Steve Gage of El Paso; grandson, Kenneth Allen Gage of Lubbock; and his great-grandson, James Glenn Horton III of Lubbock.
He is survived by his loving wife Eva Rudisill, son David James Rudisill, daughter Cheryl Gibson and husband Michael, stepdaughter Misty Gage, and daughter-in-law Cindy Gage.
He also considered Amber Horn McLean, Larry Shawn Wilson, and Richard Heath Freeman as his adopted children - because to David, family was chosen by love, not just by name.
He leaves behind his grandchildren Matthew Gage, Erica Berkheimer, Mandy Gage, and Michael Porter.
His greatest pride and joy were his great-grandchildren - Wyatt Lee, Wesley James, and Wrenley Rain, who brought light and laughter into every day. He adored them deeply, and they loved their grandpa with all their hearts.
He is also survived by his sister Kelly and husband Monte May of Fulton, Kentucky; Lindy Saunders of Winston, Oregon; and brother in-law Chris and Indiana Albers of Dallas, Texas.
David lived a life built on faith, family, and hard work. He was the kind of man who'd give you the shirt off his back, fix your car, and then make you laugh while doing it. His love, loyalty, and quiet humor will forever be remembered by those lucky enough to know him.
