George R. Schoener passed away on May 19, 2025 after a short battle with cancer. He was born September 8, 1952 to the late Burd and Helen [nee Haines] Schoener. Raised in Palmyra, he graduated from Palmyra High School in 1970. George is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Claudia [nee Klabe] Schoener of Williamstown, NJ, his son Dennis Schoener of New Lisbon Developmental Center, and his step-sons Luis A. Cotto of Williamstown, NJ and Eric Reed of NY. He is also survived by his older brother, Burd Schoener [Lynn], and his former wife, Shelley Reed. In addition, he is survived by a number of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. George worked for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority for over 27 years, serving as a landscape foreman. He retired in 2007. After that, he worked part-time as a lab courier for thirteen years. In his spare time, George enjoyed going to the mountain house with his good friend, Tommy Reed. George was an avid reader and loved watching movies. George was a good husband, father, and friend, and will be missed by all who loved him. A visitation for George will be held on Tuesday, June 24th from 11:00am to 11:30am, followed by a memorial service at 11:30am, all at Weber Funeral Home, 112 Broad St., Riverton, NJ 08077.
