George William Slusher Sr., Age 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Hospice of Cincinnati, Blue Ash. He was born on November 24, 1931, in Covington, KY to Otis and Esther (nee Collins) Slusher. He married Florence Louise Vogel on February 23, 1952, and later that year he went to serve in the US Army, serving honorably from 1952 to 1954, fighting in the Korean War. George and Florence were blessed with 4 children: George Jr., Luann, Greg, and Lisa. George worked as a printer at the Cincinnati Post for many years retiring in 1979. He then went to work as a custodian at William Henry Harrison High School until 1997. George loved spending time with his family. He loved gardening in his younger days and also camping. However, George especially enjoyed trying his luck, whether it was scratch off lottery tickets, or heading to the boat and playing the slots. Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved children: George Slusher Jr., Greg (Sandy) Slusher, & Lisa (Jeff) Wissel; grandchildren: George III, Judy, Danny (Angela), Sam (Donnie), Shawna (Jason), Misty, Michael, Matthew, Craig, Justin, Mandy (Andy), Missie (Tim), Trish (Adam), Jared, Chad (Cori), Jillian (Tom); cherished 24 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Rosalie Slusher; Nancy Lawless, Mary Lou Schaefer, Richard Vogel, Georgia Stamper, Donald Vogel, Rose Northcutt, Raymond Vogel; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home, Harrison, on Monday, December 5, 2022, from 12 pm until the time of the funeral at 2 PM. Burial to follow at Glenhaven Cemetery with Military Honors.
