Pawtucket - George C. St.Laurent, 89, the patriarch of the family, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 31, 2023.
He was the only child of the late George, Sr. and Florence (Moreau) St.Laurent of South Attleboro, MA.
George met his Soul Mate, "Ted's daughter" Shirley A. DeGrenier over 70 years ago and were married for over 67 years. They settled in Pawtucket as lifelong residents. Together they raised three children, and he is survived by eldest daughter, Robin Phaneuf of Pawtucket, her children, Aubrie and Matthew Phaneuf and great-grandchildren Kylee Rose, Alexis and Russell; middle daughter, Donna and her husband, Rene Juneau and pup, "Boomer" also of Pawtucket and youngest son, Mark and his wife, Kim St.Laurent and their sons, Adam and his fiancée, Emma and Steven and his wife, Moriah of Concord, NC. He is also survived by his two sisters-in-law, Joan Bastow, Janet Czikowsky and several nieces and nephews.
George served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with the 1st Calvary. He was a hardworking man, with strong work ethics and was a wonderful provider. George owned his own trucking company, G St.Laurent & Son Trucking. He worked long hours for many years until an unfortunate accident helped him decide that retirement was a good future plan.
During his retirement, George found he had more time to devote to his wife, family and little hobbies. He kept his mind sharp by completing word searches, coloring, and building a variety of models. During the Covid Pandemic, George was introduced to 5D diamond beaded artwork, which he framed and gave out as treasured gifts.
Not much of a TV watcher, he did however enjoy watching the Game Show network, Grit, his favorite New England sports teams and attending NASCAR races in New Hampshire. George enjoyed anything with an engine. He owned Jeeps which he would take 4-wheeling on Jamborees, classic cars, which he had won awards at several car shows. But he mostly enjoyed the Tuesday Night Cruises at Slater Park with his '41 Ford Coupe and friends.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend VISITATION on Friday from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish, Coyle Dr., Seekonk.
