Born on December 28th, 1965, at Memorial Hospital in Salinas, California, George Konstantinos Stavropoulos was the second child of Konstantinos and Georgia Stavropoulos. He was a proud graduate of the Salinas High School class of 1984 and went on to study Political Science at the University of California at Berkeley. In June of 2000, he graduated from the Monterey College of Law.
George was a loving son, brother, theo, nouno, and friend. He was an avid and adventurous cook who would bring something new to each Thanksgiving and Christmas gathering, much to the delight - and often surprise – of the assembled guests. He exemplified what Greeks call Kefi – the expression of one's joy and passion for life. He was always at the center of a party, his jokes and impressions bringing joy and laughter to everyone around. His greatest passion, however, was travel. His suitcase was always packed and ready for the road at a moment's notice. His stories from all corners of the world were not only fascinating and often hilarious but were inspiration and invitation to those less adventurous. He was a true original.
George is survived by his loving mother Georgia, his sister Anastasia (Athanasios) Tsiagalis, his brother Tony (Carrie) Stavropoulos and his niece and nephews: Georgios, Konstantinos, Nikolaos, and Alexandros Tsiagalis; Georgia, Kostantinos, and Loukas Stavropoulos.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8 at St John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 326 Park Street, Salinas, CA 93901.
Entombment to follow at San Carlos Cemetery, 792 Fremont Street, Monterey, CA 93940.
In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to St John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, PO BOX 5808, Carmel by the Sea, CA. 93921.
