Publish in a newspaper

Nettie Ferrasci of Soledad passed away, August 16, 2025. She was born December 7, 1925 in Gonzales, California to Iginio and Delfina Robasciotti Sciaroni, prominent pioneers in the early Salinas Valley Grade-A dairy industry. At age 5 years, her family moved to Greenfield, California where she attended Greenfield Grammar School and graduated from King City High School with the class of 1943. She attended and graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with the class of 1947.

Shortly after her marriage to Jack Ferrasci, she devoted her time to being a stay-at-home mom, enjoying her role as a wife and mother while nurturing her love of volunteer work. She lived the life of a true homemaker, loving cooking, gardening and knitting, pursuits she continued until her passing. Over the years, she knitted close to 300 "Nettie Hooded" baby sweaters for her many nieces, nephews, children, grandchildren, friends and even the children of those early recipients. She was also known for her polenta and stew dinners and exceptional Olallieberry pies.

She loved sports, especially fond of her beloved Los Angeles Lakers in the 1980's and, later, Golden State Warriors basketball teams. Later in life, she learned to play tennis at Chamisal Tennis Club. Through tennis and her children's school activities, she developed lasting friendships that she treasured throughout her life.

She volunteered at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital as a "pink lady" for almost thirty years, served on the lay boards at both Notre Dame and Palma High schools while her children were in attendance, and worked with her husband when he co-chaired a group to raise funds to build a gymnasium and a wing of four classrooms at Notre Dame High School. Her later passion was her volunteer work with the Soledad Mission, where she worked closely with past and present directors of the gift shop and tended to her favorite rose garden.

She was a member of Our Lady of Solitude Church in Soledad, the Altar Society and the Monterey County Swiss American Club

She is survived by son Kenneth (Louise) Ferrasci and daughter Annette (Michael) Mueller, grandchildren Jack, Alec, and James Ferrasci, Eric (Sarah) Mueller, Thomas (Angela) Mueller, Mary Frances Mueller, Kevin (Kathryn) Mueller, and great-grandchildren Tim, Molly, Laura, Jacob, Caitlin, Michael, Madison, and Matthew.

The family would like to acknowledge the Ferrasci Family's right-hand man, Jorge, who has supported them for over 50 years. Also, we want to recognize Monica, Mary, Candi, Latu, and Ingrid for their dedication to caring for Nettie for the past year and a half.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Mission Nuestra Senora de la Soledad on October 13, 2025 beginning at 10:00. Casual attire is suggested.

A private burial will take place at another time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: Central Coast VNA & Hospice, INC., 5 Lower Ragsdale Dr., Monterey, CA 93940 & Soledad Mission Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 515, Soledad, CA 93960

I fondly remember Nettie and Jack, from my days growing up in the Salinas Valley. I also remember her mother and father, Mr. & Mrs. Sciaroni. Seemed like whenever we went to any function in the valley, Nettie and Jack would be there. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Ferasci extended family.
