George “Buz” Pomeroy Stephens, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away unexpectedly in his home on September 17, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on December 22, 1949, in Jacksonville Florida, Buz lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep passion for his family and faith.
Buz dedicated himself to education, earning a Master’s degree in Art from Florida State University. He was a proud member of LifePoint Church in Tallahassee, where he nurtured his love for Jesus and built strong connections within his church and community.
Described by family and friends as always present, Buz brought joy and excitement to every family gathering. His love for cooking and entertaining turned any occasion into a cherished memory, especially during the lively meals he shared with loved ones. He took immense pleasure in being an active participant in the lives of his children and grandchildren, attending their activities and cheering them on with enthusiasm.
Buz was not only a dedicated family man but also had a zest for sports. He enjoyed playing baseball and was an avid football fan, often spending weekends watching games and sharing in the camaraderie they brought.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Cassie; sons Lee Brooks Stephens (wife Shanna) and Britt Stephens (wife Christina); sister Stephanie Wilfong (husband Rick); and three treasured grandchildren, Jet, Bodhi, and Dax Stephens. Buz also leaves behind a niece, five great-nieces and nephews, and four great-great nieces and nephews who will carry forward his legacy of love.
A visitation will take place at Life Point Church in Tallahassee, Florida, on September 21, 2024, from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM. The Celebration of his Life service will begin at 10:30 AM
George “Buz” Pomeroy Stephens will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, a gentle reminder of the love and joy he shared so willingly throughout his remarkable life.
