Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel on Jan. 8, 2026.
George Allen Thomas, 75, of Galena, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on January 1, 2026.
He was born on July 19, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio. On January 19, 1982, George married Sandra (Latella) Thomas, and together they shared 44 years of marriage.
George is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; his children, Jacob (Allison) Thomas and Joseph (Jessica) Thomas and his seven beloved grandchildren and his brother, John (Lana) Thomas.
He was preceded in death by Susan Thomas, Norman Thomas, Jason Thomas, Joshua Thomas, and Elyse Latella.
George was a man of many talents and accomplishments. He began his professional music career at the age of 15. He was a proud Vietnam-era Air Force veteran and went on to build a remarkable career as an entrepreneur and contractor, founding Thomas Bros. Maintenance, George Thomas Contractor, Inc., and several affiliated companies. Over more than three decades, he employed hundreds of people and made a lasting impact in his field.
George was deeply involved in his community. He was a member of the Hilliard Rotary for more than 20 years and served on the City of Columbus Home Improvement Contractors Board of Licenses and Appeals.
Throughout his life, George lived in Mountain Home, Idaho during his time in the Air Force, as well as Groveport, Hilliard, and Galena, Ohio.
He enjoyed scuba diving, reading, science and engineering, singing, and playing the guitar. George was known for throwing epic parties and was an exceptional cook, especially famous for his sausage, gravy, and biscuits.
George was most proud of his military service, his professional music career, the businesses he built, being named Rotarian of the Year, being recognized in Remodeling magazine's "Big 50," and most of all, raising and providing for his family.
Those who knew George will remember him as a charismatic leader, curious, creative, strong, proud, generous, entrepreneurial, and a fantastic cook.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Chalmers I. Wylie Veterans Facility for their years of compassionate medical care, and to George's family and friends for their kindness, love, and support.
